Being high risk for breast cancer, Carolina was worried how she would afford the lifesaving screenings needed. That’s where East Georgia Cancer Coalition (EGCC) stepped in a lessened this burden for her with their breast screening program. This program aims to increase community access to breast screenings by addressing structural barriers and reducing out-of-pocket costs. By providing no-cost mammography services during nontraditional hours, at more accessible locations, reducing the distance between residence and service, more women like Carolina are able to receive life-saving screenings.
